English Outdoors offers tailored English & NYC Discovery experiences for school groups interested in coming to NYC, suitable for all group sizes, ages, and language levels. It includes language practice with NYC related topics and themes, a customizable activity and excursion schedule, and full-board homestay accommodation. Groups will practice their English in locations across the city, explore iconic sites, and experience cultural immersion in an American family setting.

Our English sessions take place in iconic locations across New York City, both indoors and outdoors, offering groups a dynamic and enriching experience. From Dumbo to Bryant Park, groups can practice English conversation while immersing themselves in the vibrant culture of NYC. Locations are carefully selected for comfort, accessibility, and proximity to amenities, providing optimal environments for study.

Being immersed in the life and culture of NYC adds a unique element to the (class) experience, allowing everyone to truly experience NYC life and culture first-hand in authentic settings. Our team will be happy to tailor the schedule around your group’s interests. We can also organize outdoor sessions in museums or other places of interest to make the experience more interactive and engaging.

Personalized Group Instruction
Practice groups will consist of 6 to 9 people and will sit comfortably around a table, in semi-circular seating, or in a row. If the group is small (9 or fewer), they can have their English sessions in one closed group as long as everyone has a similar level. For larger groups of up to 50+ people, we can divide them into smaller groups based on different levels.
Activities
This is also tailor-made to your group’s needs and requirements so let us know what you want to see and do in NYC! If you are not sure, we will suggest an initial program with plenty of typical activities and must-see places, and we can then discuss, change, and improve the program until you are happy with it.

Walking tours: Brooklyn Heights and the Brooklyn Bridge, The High Line, Central Park, Times Square/Broadway
Famous landmarks & observation decks: Top of the Rock, Empire State Building, Freedom Tower, The Summit & The Edge
Sight-seeing/shopping: Soho, 5th Avenue, Chelsea Market, Grand Central, the NYC public library
Typical American activities: A broadway musical, the Gospel in Harlem, a sport event such as baseball or basketball.
Museums: The American Museum of Natural History, the MoMA, Metropolitan Museum of Art, the 911 Museum
Day trips in NYC: Coney Island, Bronx Zoo, Guided bike tours, a Speedboat ride up the Hudson, Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island…

Accommodation & Meals
All of our homestays are located in Brooklyn. At EO, we spend time selecting the right families, we recruit and visit them all ourselves so we know them well and can make quality placements according to our participants’ profiles and needs. A host family can be a couple with children, a retired couple, a single parent, or even a single person. Ethnic diversity is an important aspect of New York’s cultural identity, so some hosts may be of Asian, African, Hispanic, or Middle Eastern descent, but English is always spoken in the home.
In a homestay, you will be able to share the host family’s lifestyle. You will be welcomed in the home like a member of the family and will experience life in New York as part of an American family. With the Half-Board option, you will get breakfast and dinner at home every day. You will be expected to respect the family’s mealtimes and let them know if you are not able to make it one day.
This is the best option to make faster progress in English as there will be more opportunities for conversation and linguistic immersion. Lunches are taken in restaurants during excursions/outings.
