Best Gift Shops in New York

If you live in a small town in Alaska, Amazon Prime might be your only salvation when it comes to gift giving. However, for those of you in NYC, there really isn't a good enough excuse for giving everybody in your family discounted essential oil diffusers. That's why I've rounded up some of the best gift shops in New York, each offering an array of unique and thoughtful gifts that hopefully won't end up tucked away on the top shelf of a broom closet.

MoMa Design Store, SoHo

Situated in the heart of SoHo, the MoMA Design Store is sure to have the perfect gift for the art-lovers in your life. From Mondrian-inspired acrylic vases to Basquiat skateboard triptychs, there is something for everyone.

Exit9 Gift Emporium Brooklyn, East Village + Cobble Hill

If you're looking for a shop with a little bit of everything, this is the place for you. There are gifts for foodies, astrology fans, little tots, and the list goes on...They also offer curated boxes stuffed with all things NYC if you'd prefer to leave the gift selection to the pros.

Friends Vintage, Bushwick

Friends is sure to have something that you won't wont find anywhere else. Whether that be a Mariah Carey Xmas lighter, sardine soap on a rope, or a ceramic McNugget, there is no shortage of unique gifts to be scooped up at this Bushwick "Indie Department Store of Dreams!"

Earth Speaks, Brooklyn Heights

  • @earthspeaksbrooklyn

This place is a crystal lover's paradise! And in addition to a wide assortment of magic rocks of all shapes and colors, you can also pick up beautiful handmade candles, whimsical jellyfish planters, and pretty much anything else you'd expect to see in an aging hippie's upstate cabin. Definitely worth doing a little shopping here.

Top Hat, Lower East Side

Top Hat is a pocket-sized gift shop with a well-selected array of items to choose from. Why not get that special someone a baguette shaped light? Or how about some imported stationary and a set of handmade ceramic mugs. The options are there, folks.

The Meadow, West Village

The Meadow is where to go if you're shopping for a foodie or just somebody who enjoys the finer things in life. Popular items include handmade cocktail bitters, delcious chocolate, and gourmet salts. 😍

Coming Soon, Lower East Side

If you leave Coming Soon empty-handed, you will assuredly be Googling the items you didn't buy as soon as you get home. Nearly everything in this design-centric store will make an apartment look just a little cooler. Personal favorites include:

  • Entler Studio Table Lamps

  • Bathing Ladies

  • Goober Candles

Urban Glass, Fort Greene

Urban glass is the perfect place to go shopping for fans of all things glass. Most everything is handmade by local artisans so not only will you be supporting local artists, you'll be giving someone something truly unique. I love their watermelon tumblers, splat coasters, and glass egg table top pieces.

Other shops worth popping into:

Salter House, Brooklyn Heights

Amish meets the 21st century!

Feng Sway, Bushwick

For the vintage lovers out there.

Goose Barnacle, Brooklyn Heights

Gifts for the dudes in your life.
