A Few of Our Favorite Ways to Enjoy Fall in NYC

It’s time to switch to hot coffee and retrieve your coziest sweater from under your bed  because Fall has touched down in NYC. Say goodbye to sweaty subway platforms and dripping AC units and say hello to technicolor foliage and refreshingly crisp temps. Arguably the best time of the year in NYC, there is no shortage of ways to embrace the changing seasons. Feel the leaves crunch beneath your feet as you stroll through a beautiful park, dress up as a pumpkin and join a costume party, or just feast on apple cider doughnuts, pumpkin pies, and seasonal beverages till you pop! We’ve gone ahead and collected a few of our favorite ways to enjoy Fall in the City.

Peep the Foliage

Go for a leisurely walk in one of the many beautiful green spaces in NYC. If you’ve ever seen a romantic comedy set in NYC, you know what’s in store for you. Ancient elms, oaks, and maples shed their leaves covering the ground with a beautiful blaze of vibrant yellows, reds, and oranges.

Indulge in Seasonal Delights

Now that summer has passed, it’s time to get back into the swing of things and give your body what it wants. Cider doughnuts from treasured Greenpoint bakery, Peter Pan Donut and Pastry Shop, never fail to do the trick.

If pies are the apple of your eye, make sure to stop by Four and Twenty Blackbirds for a baked to perfection Salted Caramel Apple pie. It’s like the real life version of a left on the window sill cartoon pie.

Get in the Halloween Spirit

Join the thousands of witches, zombies, and other creatures of the night that gather for one of city’s best processions, The Village Halloween Parade. With plenty of costume shops in Gotham, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t join in on the fun. And if you’d rather spend all night at a Halloween themed rave, Bang On’s annual Warehouse of Horrors is not one to miss.

Sip on Crisp Ciders and Seasonal Ales

A relative newcomer on the block, Brooklyn Cider House, invites guests to catch (in a glass that is) flowing golden cider from their in-house barrels. A four-course prix fixe dinner with cider-catching intermissions comes in at a reasonable $49. Definitely a solid spot to spend a chilly fall evening.

With over 35 breweries in NYC, there are plenty of great places to have your own mini Oktoberfest. Situated near Prospect Park, Gold Star Beer Counter has a wide array of excellent beers to choose from. The wood panelling, friendly service, and neighborhood vibes makes this the perfect cozy spot to tie one(or three) on.

Pick Apples in the Valley

If you’re looking to get out of the city, why not book a one day outing to the Hudson Valley to pick apples and sip regional wines? A day tour includes a trip to the largest apple orchard in the region as well as a visit to one of the oldest operating wineries in the United States.
