Discovery day at Central Park
The English Outdoors program for adults in New York is unique in so many ways. Not only is it the only English program in New York that is 100% outside the traditional classroom, but it also offers 3 amazing Discovery Days each and every week. It’s really the perfect way for you to practice your English while exploring the city of New York at the same time. What could be better?!
Our concept is designed to immerse you in NYC life and culture by practicing your English in authentic city settings. Our groups meet in indoor and outdoor locations all over the city, allowing you to improve your fluency while making the most of New York. Our locations include; Madison Square Park, Bryant Park, Pier 57, Brookfield Place, Barnes and Nobles, Essex Market, Industry City, Dumbo, The Hugh and Bibliotheque.
Our English classes in New York are small, with a maximum of 8 people per class, and an average of 5-6, which everyone plenty of speaking opportunities and personalized feedback with your teacher. After doing an online level test before you arrive, you are then placed in a class to suit your language level and join a WhatsApp group for your class. You practice English in NYC in topic-driven language sessions that focus on speaking, improving fluency, and building confidence.
English class at Industry City
On three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), you are discovering and experiencing the streets of NYC whilst practicing your English, on our unique Discovery Days
We explore famous landmarks and off the beaten track hidden gems all over the city. Our Discovery Days include visits to museums, short walking tours, stops at cool cafes & pubs. Our emphasis is always on conversation, improving fluency whilst talking about subjects such as art, architecture, movies, history, immigration, fashion, food, politics and much more.
Discovery day at Times Square
One of our most popular Discovery Day is in the Bushwick Collective, Brooklyn where we explore the street art. We start at the hip Swallow Cafe, explore the graffiti after that and end our morning at the Sea Wolf bar; Another popular Discovery Day happens in Roosevelt Island which starts with a gondola rideonto the island. Then after a class discussion and coffee at the Graduate hotel, we set off on a walking tour in the South of the island to explore the ruins of the famous Smallpox hospital and the FDR Four Freedoms Park. Not forgetting the great views of Midtown Manhattan!
Discovery day at the Bushwick Collective
For accommodation, our adults in New York have the opportunity stay with a host family in Brooklyn all of whom have been personally hand picked by us. You can choose between breakfast and evening dinner, breakfast only, or if you want complete independence, you can choose our room only option which gives you the use of the host’s kitchen. Staying with a family gives you the chance to fully experience the cultural immersion in an American family setting.
